How to Change an Object Color in a Photo
Changing the color of clothing, furniture or a product accessory is easier when the edit affects only the intended object. This guide covers AI object selection, mask refinement, realistic shading and the limits of digital recoloring.
1. Start with an object that is clearly visible
Choose a photo where the item is not heavily obscured and its shape is distinct. Matte clothing, furniture and solid-colored accessories are often more straightforward than transparent glass, reflective chrome or objects with complicated multi-color graphics.
2. Upload the image and choose a target color
Open EraseVaro AI Object Recolor, add a JPG, PNG or WEBP image and pick the shade you want to preview. You can experiment with different color concepts, but every completed edit uses its own processing request and credits.
3. Select the object with AI Smart Click
Click the item you want to change. If nearby items are tightly packed, use the available target-area controls to help the model focus on the correct region. Smart Click can select up to five objects in a single edit, all receiving the same chosen color.
4. Inspect the pink mask carefully
Do not confirm until the overlay covers the parts you intend to recolor. Use Include on missed pieces and Protect on areas that should not change, such as a model's skin, a neighboring chair or product labels. Manual Brush mode can be useful for smaller or irregular shapes.
5. Preserve detail rather than painting over it
A flat color overlay tends to hide creases, texture and the original lighting. EraseVaro changes color information while attempting to preserve the source brightness pattern. Existing highlights, shadows and material texture can remain visible, but very dark or very bright areas may look less faithful.
6. Review reflections, edges and color accuracy
Zoom into thin straps, seams, shiny surfaces and boundaries between the object and background. Some material colors cannot be predicted perfectly from a photograph. A recolored photo is a visual mockup, not a calibrated representation of how a physical product will look under every light source.
7. Save the edited version and verify your use case
Download the result and retain the original for reference. For ecommerce, distinguish digitally recolored variants from verified product photographs when accuracy matters. AI Object Recolor uses two credits per completed edit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change the color of more than one object?
Yes. Smart Click supports up to five selected objects during one edit, with one shared target color.
Will the background also change?
The recolor operation is intended to affect the selected mask only. Check the pink overlay before confirming to avoid including background pixels.
Does recoloring preserve fabric folds and shadows?
The processor aims to retain luminance variation and texture, but results depend on the source photo, surface finish and mask accuracy.
